And So It Starts Again

Over the break, I've been relaxing in Malmö with Johan & Co., but as of tomorrow this sojourn will have to come to an end. However, I had a lot of fun during my stay, and I'm super glad that I got to stay for Johan and Chris's birthday (which is today). I was going to make them a birthday cake (or two), but they already fell asleep so there probably isn't much sense in that... Perhaps we can have a cake raincheck :-)

But yes... now it's back to Finland for me. I am sad to go, but I'm also excited to get started on some of my courses. I'm particularly psyched for Physical Activity and Ageing (everything here has a stupid British spelling) because I want to make my parents and grandparents to get more active... so, if I take a course in it, that means I'm an expert, so they have to listen to and do what I say! If only!

Health Promotion among Older People should also be well-suited to my familial goals >:-)

Also, it seems the department screwed up when they informed me about the application period - it doesn't start in February...it ends in February. Good thing I double-checked! But I still am anticipating troubles because my 'personal handler' was denied tenure, so I'm kind of on my own now. :-( We'll just have to see if the people I've contacted ever get back to me...

So yeah...back from vacation, starting some new stuff, pretty pumped but not looking forward to the cold weather. I know it's been a mild winter (the warmest in Helsinki's recorded history) but I don't care. It's cold, and I've still yet to find a suitable method for keeping my feet warm indoors. Can't get much done lying down on the floor with my feet on the radiator...
